Now that I've finally figured out how to log in, I thought some of you might be interested in this... Bill Moyers interviewed Wendy Kaminer last week about the "intersection of religion and society today". She's an agnostic, social critic, and legal scholar. The following link leads to Kaminer's article, "The Real Danger Behind the Christian Right," published in the Oct/Nov 2003 issue of Free Inquiry: www.pbs.org/now/society/FI_kaminer.pdfHeather

A good read, Heather. Thanks for forwarding. We should probably bring this up for discussion.

The final paragraph is perhaps the most disturbing, yet frighteningly true at the same time.

Golly, ya think maybe I (we) was (were) right all along about opponents to church-state separation being hypocritical imbeciles with no capacity for logical thought that would have let them SEE THAT THINGS LIKE THIS WILL HAPPEN? Aaaah. This reminds me of the "dr." at the debates failing to comprehend my point I was making with 7th day leprechaun adventists. X-tians: Why that wicca's just absurd! Wiccans: Why that christianity's just absurd! Me: You're both absurd! Voice of logic: Perhaps we should separate that which is widely regarded as absurd (religion) from that which is not (government). Actually, I can't definitely say that most people don't regard government as absurd.
