Yeah, he should start with something smaller. Like the prayer that we did before EVERY SINGLE CEREMONY while I worked for the army. That includes the baptist preacher that was invited to do our grace at the holiday party. fuckin a!!!

No, he needs to start bigger, and we need more Newdows. With 15-20% of the US being atheists, and another 20% or so being otherwise non-Christian, there's no reason why one person should be shouldering this responcibility. The US is soon to become a religious battleground - our current ever-so-slightly devisive administration has seen to that - and the quiet pacifists will be lost to the pages of history.
It's time "idiocracy" gave way to reason.

Starting bigger is just silly. Yes, I agree with you all that religion should be removed from these public events but it is a complicated issue. The only way to succesfully change anything concerning religion is to start out small. If you aim only for the grand prize you are more likely to fail. You have to start out small and work your way up to the greatest challenges. What Newdow is trying to do is change a well liked established tradition and that is difficult.
Another thing is 40% of the population may be non-christian but considerably less of this 40% actually care about this issue.

When Constantine changed the religion of the Roman Empire, no measurable percentage was already Christian. He put a peasant's religion upon the greatest empire to ever exist, and he did it overnight. The focused mind doesn't concern itself with "can" or "cannot," but only "how."

Are you really likening Michael Newdow to a Roman Emporer? Can you at least recognize the difference between the two? Please tell me you can.

I feel bad even dignifying that statement with a response, as it had nothing to do with anything. I didn't liken Newdow to Constantine, I likened the climb of atheism to the replacement of Roman paganism by Christianity. By your same logic, you should have also chastized me for likening 2005 America to the 4th century CE Roman Empire.
You seem to have a lot of opinion and a fair bit of bite and not necessarily what we call "buckets o' knowledge" on certain issues... especially for someone who wants to both remain "anonymous" and be respected at the same time.
All in all, I can't currently say I'm impressed by the cut of your jib, sir.
